On the Senna onboard you can clearly see that the nose is making a sudden move inwards before he flies off. Your analysis on this is wrong.
Its clear that the welding of the steering column was a HUGE mistake. It should have been replaced altogether but I heard at the time the new steering column hadn't arrived yet. The weekend at imola in 1994 truly was a weekend of hell with too many crashes and 2 deaths too many for my taste. Rip Ayrton and Roland ❤❤❤
4.54 - 5.22 is not true on any car. I cant understand how did williams get away with all this.
Many F1 fans complained about the Halo that looks awful, but if it was a already a thing since back then Senna would probably been saved.
His steering column was broken before. That car went straight as an arrow into the wall. The best driver in the world with the reflexes of a cat would have rotated the car at least a little bit in the 1.5 seconds before impact, if he was able to.
The 94 Williams was a Desaster for Senna, he always critizied the car. This could be to do because Senna had a very Special Drive - Style but the Williams Car couldnt do the actions what Senna expected then including the longer steering/Steering System etc. and might the aerodynamik (Tyres etc.) was the reason for the dramatic end. I'll never forget this scene 😞
How does the steering column just break like that? Sabotaged?
Badly welded.
And the point of having a steering wheel that can move around? 5:14 bollocks
Williams know.
...the same cause of death of Ratzenberger...some hours apart..dear Lord 💔
9:06 tell that to jules bianchi, Anthony Hubert and Danilo vant hoff they all died years later so safety isn’t improved its internal organ damage
A Williams mechanic has lived with the fact that his poor workmanship killed Senna for 30 years now. That must be hard.
For completeness you really need to show full laps when proving there was no deflection of the steering wheel.
This is enough and it's common sense that steering wheel is not moving that way
What I think. He’s probably thought the steering pop out so he thought about trying put it back in but doesn’t realize it was snapped. Now you’re in fastest car. Loud. Lot of horsespower. Now you’re going 200 miles per hour and car is bouncing hard then light corner is coming up. You driving. You only have split second to think. Usually you go by your instincts. What I think. He probably think in split second that it “pop out” so he immediately try put back in but in next split second. You’re coming up to the wall and you’re knocked out cold. All that in second or 2. Now how can you stop within 2 seconds. It was too late for him. But he raced whole his life and he had experiences whole his life and why he didn’t immediately just stop when steering going all over the places. For me, i will with no question.
well there you go , senna the three world champion best driver ever in the world and on the rain deid because he couldn't control a little oversteer , not becuse a steering wheel failure that didnt happen
Did you even watch the video or are you just that dense?
@ 2:45 you can see Ayrton's leaning left. This is the moment that his head was hit by the failed suspension rod. From then on, he was incapacitated by the head injuries and the car drove straight to the wall. No braking , now steering.
Another braindead comment
When will Adrian Newey come clean about this and admit that the car was flawed and the suspension rod exploded and went into Ayrton's head before reaching the turning point in tamburello
Did not happen, suspension was intact all the way till impact
I don't believe all of the first part (sparks, ground height change). The analysis is like if only Senna was driving a car that day. Among all other cars we should have observed a similar behavior, how could that be applicable to Senna's car only? For the steering column surely very likely.
Very well explained, this is undisputably equipment failure
It was clearly a mechanical failure. Senna wasn't scrubbing his tires during the caution. I've never had my front tires hook even offroad in extreme conditions unless ur on the brakes. Hitting the brakes during a slide is a no no. You adjust the throttle or feather the clutch and or change gears depending on track conditions. He died cause he hit the wall at 300kph. Sad, he lost his life. If there's a crash box built into the side of the formula 1 car, it should deflect crash debri and absorb impact at those higher speeds. Safety has improved Thank God over the years in the Formula 1 series.
Too bad there isn’t an angle where we can see reference points in relation to the steering wheel movement.
What sold me on the steering column was the Sunday warm up onboard you hardly see the movement you see on the steering wheel during the race.
It was a broken steering column End
100% steering wheel, Williams tried to cover up because its a big business
For those of you that are saying that the steering column broke, have you ever had a steering column break on a turn? I have. I was on an exit ramp and I turned right. I heard something break and suddenly my steering wheel went all the way to the right, my left arm touched my right arm. But my car kept on going straight. In this video that steering wheel was not turning.
Senna died on the track... his death HAD TO BE ANNOUNCED LATER to prevent the track closing... for many reasons
So much bullshit. The single fact that Senna was turning his steering wheel like mad but the wheels didnt turn at all is enough evidence that the steering column was broken. That get completely ignored here.
That black topping which also causes disturbances to the video recording when the car goes over it must have dislodged the steering wheel. It's very clear that the car goes straight.
The steering wheel may show a small jitter but to claim that it moves around like that doesn’t make any sense
The problem with your argument "why did it happen on lap 7 and not lap 6" is that it takes no account of the driver. It may have been lower on 6, but Senna may hace successfully corrected it, or been going slower, or the line may have been different by 1 cm. The death of Senna was sad, but it doesn't have to be a conspiracy
I was watching the race in question live on TV. At the time i recall it being mentioned that Senna had requested his steering column be lowered at the last minute. The video above fails to mention this. I always wondered in the lowering on the steering column involved a quick bodge/weld? Something else, the video above mentions Senna being hit by a tyre, resulting in his death. I recall the news at the time mentioning something, suspension or a piece of metal entering his visor resulting in injury beyond survival.
His last breath was when his head fell to the right. Miss ya man, the greatest ever
The sad thing is if you look at the onboard camera you can see senna look down at his steering wheel seconds before impact as if he knew exactly what had happened
This is difficult to watch because the captions are so poor. It's not "Steering to the Slide" .. It's "Steer Into the Slide"
dodgy weld on the steering column and it broke
frank dernie lying through his teeth, he very well know it was that broken steering column that caused the crash but used the ground effect arguement to save the british f1 cartel from the law
the most disgusting cover up in motorsport history, thanks to bernie. the british f1 gang tried to lie to the world using the arguement that it was porpoising when senna lapped the tamburello one time without any incident at full speed after the safety car had gone in. the williams was traveling at 190mph, there is sufficient downforce by the front wing to provide front grip...the correcting oversteer argument is just downright B.S. thats why martin brundle disgust me to the core. he went with the groudn effect arguement to save his gang but take every opportunity to talk about when senna was his teammate...but in senna's death, stab him right behind the back...awful awful awful
I sir, videoed that race and I watched it back in slow motion many times. I saw a great deal of blood on the ground when they lifted his body to the helicopter. I can't see how getting hit by a tire in the helmet could cause you to bleed that amount of blood. Getting rammed through the visor into the face by a suspension part would. You can't lose that much blood through the head and live. If organized racing did not exist, drivers would'nt die. If it's culpability your looking for it's going to be a very long list. Please grow up.
He did not run out of road! Go back and look at where the car "bottoms out." There is a patch of replaced track. The steering column that had been "altered," failed completely. The extraordinary driver that Ayrton was, tried desperately to turn the steering wheel to the left, which is easily seen in other videos. He tried twice, but due to catastrophic mechanical failure of the steering column, the wheels did not react at all. He was trying to brake and had managed to slow the car down somewhat, but sadly it ploughed into the wall. Ayrton Senna did not pass away from the wheel hitting his head. It was a part of the wheel axle that broke off and went through this crash helmet. He was deceased at the scene, in all actuality. Williams were ultimately held accountable. Please please get the facts correct. Rest easy Ayrton Senna, and also Ratzenburger who died the previous day. Never forgotten, all FI legends lost. X
You can't entirely blame Williams for it. The FIA had the bright idea to just get rid of all driver aids for from the previous season and expected everyone's cars be ready for the next
@@w0lf667 ultimately they did a shoddy amendment to the steering column. They also removed both 'Black Boxes' from his car, which was dubious at best. They weren't permitted to do that. I guess that bottom line, they were and remain guilty, of Ayrton's death that day. But Karma will always find a way to address wrongdoing in the Universe. She certainly did with Team Williams. Anyway, Season's Greetings to you and yours. Xxx
Is it not strange like when he go directly to the wall the tyres was going straight! Not left or right?!?!?!?
I think it was a good try. But it would have been worth it to have someone who speaks English more fluently add that text so that it could be clearly understood. You might as well have written it in Spanish and let the automated CC do the translation. Was really hard trying to figure out what you were talking about unless you are very knowledgeable with this stuff already. Shame. Good try. Still a fail. Still didn't tell me anything about his crash that made any sense. The way he died was an internal decapitation basically. Just awful. At least he died doing something he loved and, of course, this being a very high risk sport, he probably anticipated this would be the way he'd go out.
The steering broke, I could understand the loss of rear downforce if the car spun, and he hit the wall backwards or while spinning, I cannot see a steering response after the apex, the car went straight ahead and unfortunately hit the wall at the worst-case angle.
Informational video I hate to give it a thumbs up. It did explain another reasonable theory
